40-year-old Latrobe woman used boy, 13, for sex, drugs, police say
A Latrobe woman, 40, allegedly had sex with a 13-year-old boy in her home and took prescription painkillers prescribed to him on three occasions under the pretense of toothache pain, city police said.
Jesse L. Kuhns of Thompson Street is accused of having sex with the boy when he slept at her former home on Miller Street sometime between March 1 and 5, according to a criminal complaint.
Kuhns allegedly told the boy afterward not to tell anyone or “I will hurt you and bring your family down,” police said.
Kuhns exposed her breasts to the boy in August and October 2013 and propositioned him, but he declined, police said.
Kuhns allegedly obtained the painkiller hydrocodone from the boy when he was given a prescription at Excela Latrobe Hospital's emergency room on Oct. 23, 2013, and Feb. 27 and March 5, under the ruse of having a toothache. The teen told police Kuhns coached him how to act as if he had jaw or neck pain.
Latrobe police Officer Michele Preston charged Kuhns with statutory sexual assault, sexual assault, corruption of minors, endangering the welfare of children, and three counts of possession of a controlled substance by misrepresentation or fraud.
Preston said Kuhns was notified of the sexual abuse claim on March 18 by Westmoreland County Children and Youth Services and interviewed the boy on April 3.
Unity District Judge Michael Mahady notified Kuhns by summons of her Oct. 2 arraignment and her preliminary hearing scheduled for Oct. 20, according to court documents.
Latrobe police Chief James Bumar said police decided to proceed by summons rather than take Kuhns to Mahady's office for arraignment because the teen has been placed in a facility and there is no danger of the suspect coming in contact with him.
