Gregory J. Fitchko
Gregory J. Fitchko, 61, of Ligonier, died Tuesday evening, July 31, 2012, at Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown. He was born Sept. 20, 1950, in Latrobe, a son of the late Jack and Helen Petty Fitchko. Greg was employed by the Ligonier VFW No. 734. Prior to that, he had been employed by Odyssey of Ligonier and Pittsburgh. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of St. John's Orthodox Church in Wilpen. Greg was a member of the Ligonier Valley Veteran's Honor Guard, Byers-Tosh, Post No. 267 of Ligonier and the Ligonier VFW No. 734. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Jason L. Fitchko, in 2011. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Donna Carns Fitchko; a daughter, Anna (Denny) Rummel, of Ligonier; a brother, Frank Fitchko, of Front Royal, Va.; and a sister, Carol (Steve) Butler, of North Carolina. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the J. PAUL McCRACKEN FUNERAL CHAPEL INC., 144 E. Main St., Ligonier, where a Panachida service will be held at 7 p.m., followed by military honors by the Ligonier Valley Veteran's Honor Guard at 7:30 p.m. A Panachida funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the funeral chapel with the Rev. Tony Joseph as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Fort Palmer Cemetery.
