On the “Watch List”:

Luke Ravenstahl. Things are not looking very encouraging for the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police — or, by proxy, Mayor Luke Ravenstahl. Police Chief Nate Harper's role, if any, in an improper services contract and his moves to begin a side security service are under review, the former by a federal grand jury. And just this week, the FBI paid a visit to police headquarters and carted off nine boxes of material related to training and moonlighting. Mayor Luke, seeking re-election, surely must be wishing it all goes away — not that his primary opponents do, mind you.

• Moka. Officials at the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium are awaiting confirmation that the Western lowland gorilla is pregnant. It would be a blessed event considering Moka lost a baby last year when it was only 4 months old. The initial mortality rate for this endangered species is quite high. The conservation world will be keeping its fingers crossed. As will we.
