Lance: To Springdale Council. Considering the borough has rid itself of three police officers who committed on-duty transgressions in recent years, we'd think council's new hire would be someone with a blemish-free record as a cop. We'd be wrong. Instead, it hired Officer Derek Dayoub, whose record includes a 2009 arrest for assault while on duty in Washington County and other problems. Although prosecutors eventually withdrew the charges against Dayoub, we can't understand — given Springdale's track record — why it would choose him.
