Seniors vs. school taxes
Dear Gov. Wolf:
In addition to health-care fixes, let's not forget about the vital help needed because of these extreme Pennsylvania school-tax increases and the catastrophic impact they have on senior citizens. The time for reform is long overdue and in the eyes of many, it has become an emergency priority.
The very idea that local school boards, without any oversight, have the authority to burden seniors on fixed incomes with continually escalating school taxes is not only unreasonable, but disgraceful and unacceptable.
There must be a better way.
It's the responsibility of our elected office holders in Harrisburg to do their jobs for all the people of Pennsylvania. It's time for all residents of this great state to pay their fair share and participate in the commitment to and financial support of education, not just its seniors and property owners. It's time to level the playing field.
