School taxes too high II
The Leechburg Area School District is starting a new school year with the same old ideas. Don't worry about balancing the budget; you can always raise property taxes.
News flash: Taxpayers have had enough. Times have changed the school district; it should look for another solution to the problem of not having enough money to support the school system.
In my opinion, most of the school board members don't pay attention to what is going on in the school district. Too many older residents are moving out of the area because of the taxes. The last time I checked, there were 22 homes going up for foreclosure, and there are not many people buying at sheriff's sales. That causes another problem: abandoned homes, which means a loss of revenue for the school district and the borough.
Use some common sense. Appoint a committee to look into a merger with another school district that needs help. If something is not done soon, the government may have to take over. We will have no say, and the government will raise our taxes.
If people want to have some say about Leechburg Area School District, now is the time to take some kind of action — not keep raising property taxes.
