Hate in America

Over the years I have received about 3,000 right-wing emails and about 10 left-wing emails. The right-wing emails are usually hateful, vile and full of malicious lies — President Obama is a Muslim, he wasn't born in America, he doesn't salute the flag, he was sworn in on the Quran, he bought a prayer rug and secretly passed a 1-percent tax on all bank transactions.
But lies are what haters want to believe.
Fox News has said repeatedly our economy is going to collapse, but the Dow is up over 100 percent over its low in early 2009.
The other day, a friend's two daughters went to visit a relative who belongs to the tea party. When the girls came home, they said, “We have to get brownie out of office.”
I wish I had a dollar for every time I've heard the president called the N-word by so-called Christians. People listen to Rush Limbaugh like he's a prophet, but he preaches hate day after day.
Regardless of who is president, as an American I want that person to succeed. It's a shame so many people don't feel the same way.
We worry about other nations and extremist Muslims who hate Americans, but the extreme right seems to hate 47 percent of Americans.
Hate is alive in America by a 3,000 to 10 margin.

Quite an interesting piece, Mr. Balog. I have to wonder if what you say is even true. Let me count the ways: 3,000 right-wing to 10 left-wing emails? From what? Who are you, and what do you do, that you get so many emails? That insinuates that people on the right are hateful people. I beg to differ. Want me to point out the MANY hate comments from those on the left that I see on a day to day basis? Liberals, or uninformed people, are so vile it makes me wonder what planet they live on. We are all people; plain and simple. Please don't lump a vast majority of people who oppose the President's ideology as hateful. As for the Dow being up, you obviously don't understand economics. Have you ever heard of Quantitative Easing? It's what is known as "printing money". When the Feds print money, it gets into the money system (i.e. Wall Street). Perhaps you should understand what the pitfalls could be for printing money. It's good for Wall Street in the beginning but down the road could be disastrous. We're now on QE3. As for the Tea Party, have you ever been to one? I seriously doubt it. They are a pretty quiet group of people who want to make it be known that they believe in the principles that our founders had when forming this Country. They pick up their garbage and treat their fellow neighbors with respect. As for the two daughters, that doesn't make sense it came from the kids. Unless they heard their parent say it. But that isn't what the Tea Party is all about. As for Rush Limbaugh preaching hate; where the heck did THAT come from? He never preaches hate. That tells me you have never heard his show. You seem to just hear myths from other people about him and believe it. That's what scares me. A lot of people will be told a lie and they don't say "hmmmm maybe I should check it out to see if it's true". Try checking out things some time. You might learn something. There are always two sides to every story; I always check out both. I want the President, regardless of whom he is, to succeed but when I see who is advising the President, I worry. Have a nice day.
