Look beyond Big Bird

I watched the whole first debate between President Obama and Gov. Romney with great interest and felt it brought many of the values and policies of the candidates to light. However, what are the media focusing on? Big Bird!

Anyone with a brain in his head watching the debate knew Romney's Big Bird reference was his attempt to put a light comment into the tense debate. The public finally got to hear directly from the two candidates on their values and proposed policies, and this is what the media focus on — a 10-second comment in a 90-minute debate?

Our country is facing the most important campaign in modern history with so many issues at stake. We need to know the stance of each candidate. This is why I watch the debates, then turn off the TV and make up my own mind. I don't have to be told what to think by others. I saw it myself.

I recommend that to the public. See it for yourself. Make up you own mind. Otherwise, you will think it was about Big Bird, when it is was really about our country's future.
