In her letter “Unaffordable for seniors” (Feb. 4 and TribLIVE.com), Beverly J. Myers states that instead of property taxes, sales and earned-income taxes should pay for schools. She's afraid that senior citizens will lose their houses because of property taxes. If seniors didn't prepare financially for their “golden years,” it's their fault, isn't it?
Certainly, if seniors had children, they attended the very schools paid for by those taxes she so vilifies.
Ms. Myers surely must have voted for Obama, since she's looking for seniors to keep all of “their” Social Security money, rather than hand it over to those greedy little children in her school district. I see her as just another entitlement snob who wants to rob future generations of what she and her family so heartily enjoyed.

Nadidi Gunduz-Almaleky, Your letter shows your lack of knowledge of what seniors dislike of our school system. Most feel our children should have a great chanch to learn, but at the same time we do not want to pay for babysitting, programs that have noting t do with education, such as football stadiums, astro turf and expanded staffs that were never there when thy grew up. And most don't resent the so called greedy children as you call them, just the greedy parents of a few of those children
