'American Coyotes' Series

Traveling by Jeep, boat and foot, Tribune-Review investigative reporter Carl Prine and photojournalist Justin Merriman covered nearly 2,000 miles over two months along the border with Mexico to report on coyotes — the human traffickers who bring illegal immigrants into the United States. Regarding The Associated Press news story “Judge grants Pistorius bail” (Feb. 23 and TribLIVE.com), we can expect the NRA to respond with three talking points:

• If Oscar Pistorius' girlfriend had been armed, she'd be alive today.

• Taking a firearm to the bathroom is the commonsense thing to do.

• Always keep a spare magazine in your bathroom, and we don't mean Newsweek!
