U.S. Rep. Tim Murphy, R-Upper St. Clair, agreed to meet with a group of South Hills constituents on the evening of Feb. 19. A few hours beforehand, he abruptly canceled.

In this polarized political climate, this group was interested in opening a dialogue about a number of issues that impact all of his constituents. We had sent him a list of topics so that he could prepare some remarks about his plans for action on pressing issues for all Pennsylvanians, such as gun violence, voting access and the sequester.

We were disappointed that he chose not to attend and participate in the lively and informed discussion that took place in his absence.

This letter also was signed by 11 other Murphy constituents.
