'American Coyotes' Series

Traveling by Jeep, boat and foot, Tribune-Review investigative reporter Carl Prine and photojournalist Justin Merriman covered nearly 2,000 miles over two months along the border with Mexico to report on coyotes — the human traffickers who bring illegal immigrants into the United States. Most are Americans working for money and/or drugs. This series reports how their operations have a major impact on life for residents and the environment along the border — and beyond.

Letter to the Editor

To add some salt to the open wound of Pennsylvania Turnpike corruption, remember that tolls were to be collected only until the initial construction costs were recovered.

At that time, which occurred many, many years ago, the toll booths were to come down and maintenance was to be paid for from the general fund.

The clear corruption of elected representatives feeding at the taxpayer trough and having those same taxpayers pay their legal bills should make every taxpayer in our commonwealth want to vomit.
