Recently it was reported in the Trib that a group of former Penn State football players have called for another former player to be voted off the board of trustees because they didn't like his vote to oust Joe Paterno (“11 ex-PSU football players critical of trustee,” April 2 and TribLIVE.com).

That trustee said he did what he thought was right for the university, and that's the point the players seem not to want to understand.

The university isn't defined by the football program. It's where people, just as important as a coach, teach the values of learning, honesty, hard work and, yes, integrity.

The trustees evidently did what they thought was right for the whole university and that's what should be respected.
