'American Coyotes' Series

Traveling by Jeep, boat and foot, Tribune-Review investigative reporter Carl Prine and photojournalist Justin Merriman covered nearly 2,000 miles over two months along the border with Mexico to report on coyotes — the human traffickers who bring illegal immigrants into the United States. Most are Americans working for money and/or drugs. This series reports how their operations have a major impact on life for residents and the environment along the border — and beyond.

Philly abortion trial

I want to commend the Valley News Dispatch for publishing articles on the murder trial of Dr. Kermit Gosnell, the Philadelphia abortion doctor.

Most media outlets do not given appropriate attention to tragedies involving abortion and medical malpractice, not because they don't claim thousands of lives, but because they're not a part of our current agenda.

If Gosnell had killed those women and babies with an AK-47, he would have been on the front page of every newspaper in the United States.
