Letter to the Editor
Saturday, May 11, 2013, 9:00 p.m.

Regarding George F. Will's column “Why judicial activism matters” (May 5 and about the “Total Price Rule” and the airline industry: This deception by the government is not new.

Years ago, all gas pumps would show the taxes being paid per gallon of gas. Now, not only are those taxes not advertised on pumps, they are missing from receipts. In fact, when I purchase gas at a well-known Western Pennsylvania fuel/food mart, the receipt actually says “NO TAX.”

Perhaps the younger generations believe their gas is not taxed, but we older folks know better. I have even questioned several state legislators regarding this deceit, but as usual, they were useless in their responses. Perhaps one of the Trib's readers can explain why these taxes are hidden and what idiots approved this.
