Many thanks

I want to point out an important omission from the June 9 article “Silent Salute” regarding the rededication of the Grand Army of the Republic memorial in the Apollo Cemetery.

Freeport Monument Works donated several days of labor and the materials necessary for the cleaning and repainting of the cannon. The company also cleaned and adjusted the grave markers surrounding the memorial.

A big “thank you” is in order for the generous gift to the old cemetery and Apollo.
