'American Coyotes' Series

Traveling by Jeep, boat and foot, Tribune-Review investigative reporter Carl Prine and photojournalist Justin Merriman covered nearly 2,000 miles over two months along the border with Mexico to report on coyotes — the human traffickers who bring illegal immigrants into the United States. Most are Americans working for money and/or drugs. This series reports how their operations have a major impact on life for residents and the environment along the border — and beyond.

Letter to the Editor
Saturday, July 13, 2013, 9:00 p.m.

The other day, President Obama declared he was going to delay the business-mandate portion of ObamaCare to 2015.

ObamaCare is a law. He can't just change a law without congressional approval. But he will, because he is never challenged when he violates the Constitution.

And how many times has he? Five or six times, and how many others via executive order, regulatory changes, etc.? I thought one was the limit, and then removal from office was the consequence.

When a president declares he's changing a law, that's something a dictator does.

There was a Lincoln quote in Randy Bish's July 4 editorial cartoon that says it all: “America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.”

Wake up, America! Maybe there is still time?
