Rose smelling sweet

It is always wrong to abuse any substance — in or out of sports. But many people who criticize professional athletes about it are probably guilty of it themselves.

In the meantime, Pete Rose might be the purest record-setter of all. And he is the only one with a lifetime ban from baseball. So, by today's standards, “Charlie Hustle” might actually smell like a rose. And that's a sobering thought.
