The hubbub over U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz's citizenship is just that — meaningless noise.

My son was born in Germany in 1954. His mother was German; I am a native-born American citizen.

He has a German birth certificate because he was born in a German hospital, but he also has a U.S. Certificate of Citizenship issued at date of birth.

We have to stop wasting time on “gotcha” talk and have meaningful discussions and honest debates on the real issues facing the country.
