Passion captured

Thank you for the Living story “A former athlete, the Rev. Joe Freedy scores points with parishioners” (Aug. 4 and TribLIVE.com) by Rex Rutkoski, who did a wonderful job.

I am rector of our diocesan seminary and everywhere I went, people were talking about the story in such favorable ways. Rutkoski did a fantastic job of handling the topic and especially of capturing Father Freedy's personality and passion for vocations to the priesthood and for life in general.

I appreciate the Trib's inclusion of this topic and the coverage of it .

The Rev. Joseph M. Mele

The writer is rector of the Diocese of Pittsburgh's St. Paul Seminary.
