Debt logic

KQV Poll results reported in the Sept. 21 print edition of the Trib show 96 percent of participants responded “Yes” to the question “Do you think raising the debt ceiling increases our country's debt?” It does not! It pays for debt we have already accumulated.

If you charge $100 on a credit card and the bill arrives, what do you do? Pay it or refuse to pay it? Choosing not to pay will affect your next bill. You will not only pay more in interest charges, but you will be refused on future purchases until the bill is paid.

How can so many not understand? Heaven help us.
