Letter to the Editor
Saturday, Dec. 7, 2013, 9:00 p.m.

Regarding the efforts by Pittsburgh Bishop David Zubik to protect our faith from government overreach: I commend Bishop Zubik for balancing his legal efforts to defend conscience decisions and caring for those in need.

The Pittsburgh Diocese under his leadership responds immediately to disasters. The Catholic Charities Clinic is a wonderful outreach service, as are the many parish ministries to the needy.

I would rather see some money be used for the legal process to establish defense of conscience — hopefully once and for all — instead of for fines that will be even more costly.
