'American Coyotes' Series

Traveling by Jeep, boat and foot, Tribune-Review investigative reporter Carl Prine and photojournalist Justin Merriman covered nearly 2,000 miles over two months along the border with Mexico to report on coyotes — the human traffickers who bring illegal immigrants into the United States. Letter to the Editor
Friday, Feb. 7, 2014, 8:57 p.m.

It was a sunny but cold Wednesday morning crossing the Kittanning Citizens Bridge. The temperature was something below zero, but beauty was something soaring high. The limbs of trees in Riverfront Park were covered in white, and sun-lighted glory and brilliant white fog hung over the Allegheny River. Other drivers were noticing it too.

Just think: This is where we live! What a wake-up call.
