To Nafari Vanaski: Thank you for your intelligent and well-written column about police dog Rocco's death, “Vanaski: Heroes also walk on 2 legs”. You thoughtfully acknowledged the sadness of his death while accurately pointing out the hypocrisy Pittsburghers have shown regarding the deaths and suffering of human heroes.

Of course you will get angry emails from animal fanatics accusing you of insensitivity. But those of us sane people who still have some kind of perspective in the world know you were only showing common sense — which, of course, is anything but common these days.
