UNIONDALE, N.Y. - The Penguins will attempt to win their 11th straight game without two of their biggest stars.

Neither center Evgeni Malkin nor defensemen Kris Letang will play tonight despite both taking part in the morning skate.

Malkin, who is dealing with a right shoulder injury, said earlier this week that he wanted to play against the Islanders.

However, Penguins coach Dan Bylsma said this afternoon that Malkin and Letang were out.

"Both are still day-to-day," Bylsma said.

Malkin and Letang could play in the team's next game, Sunday at home against Philadelphia.

Left wing Matt Cooke did not participate in the morning skate but will play tonight.

Goaltender Tomas Vokoun will start against the Islanders.
