Perfection paid off for Connellsville, which took back first place in the Twi-Night Trap League Thursday night after shooting a flawless 200. Connellsville now has 37 points on the season. Ruffs Dale matched Connellsville bird for bird and now has 36 points, good for a share of second place with Youngwood, which fired a 195 Thursday. East Huntingdon shot a 196 but remains in last place with 31 points.

Applications for the "Allegheny River Bass Classic Tournament," hosted by the Oil Region Alliance, are now available. The two-person bass tournament will be held Oct. 15 on the Allegheny River, launching at Franklin. This is a jet boat tournament. The Outdoor Channel's "Win Your Own Fishing Show" contest will hold auditions from noon to 5 p.m. Thursday at the Butler Fairgrounds. One winner, chosen from candidates screened at 65 events across the country, gets to host one episode of their own fishing show on the Outdoor Channel. Each contestant is asked to step up to a microphone and camera, tell a personal fishing story, and explain why they would make a good host of their own fishing show. A semifinalist is selected from each Motor Moose event; their auditions are then posted on the network's Web site, www.outdoorchannel.com, where the public can rate them. At the end of the season, five finalists compete for the grand prize.
Sportsman's Warehouse, located at 250 Mt Nebo Pointe Drive in Pittsburgh, will hold a series of free seminars in the coming weeks. From 4 to 5 p.m. July 15, there will be a seminar focusing on how to film your own hunts. Tips and techniques for producing a quality video will be discussed. There will be a program on how and where to catch smallmouth bass on the fly in western Pennsylvania at 7 p.m. July 20 and an "archery 101" program for women and children at noon July 22. Poor Richard's Bait and Tackle in Erie will host its annual walleye tournament to benefit the SONS of Lake Erie walleye hatchery. The tournament will run from 5 a.m. July 15 through 6 p.m. Aug. 13. It is open to the public at a cost of $10, or $5 if you are already a SONS member. All fish must come from the Pennsylvania portion of Lake Erie. Prizes will depend on the number of entrants. The Washington Hospital Foundation is holding its second annual Sporting Clay Shoot beginning at 11 a.m. Aug. 11 at the Shooting Academy at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort. The 100-target event will use the Lewis Class scoring system, so shooters of all ages and skill levels are encouraged to participate. Bring your own equipment. The deadline to register is Aug. 7. Bobtown Rod and Gun Club will hold a 3-D archery shoot July 16, with registration beginning at 9 a.m. The club's youth archery program will hold a shoot July 17 starting at 6 p.m. There will be three age divisions: youth (ages 13 and 14), cubs (ages 9 to 12), and small fry (ages 8 and younger).
