Free agent forward Shane Doan is likely to visit Pittsburgh shortly, according to agent Terry Bross.

Although Bross said it wasn't “for certain” that Doan will visit with the Penguins, he gave a far more encouraging tone than last week regarding his client's odds of playing with the Penguins.

“Shane is going to visit a couple of more teams,” Bross told the Tribune-Review on Sunday. “I'm pretty sure Pittsburgh will be one of them. He is interested in the Penguins.”

Bross noted that he has touched base with Penguins general manager Ray Shero about a possible meeting. The Penguins have already made Doan an offer.

Doan met with the Philadelphia Flyers and New York Rangers last week. Bross said those meetings don't necessarily indicate that Doan is more interested in those teams than others. Rather, Doan was already in New York for a collective bargaining agreement meeting and decided, for proximity's sake, to visit with the Rangers and Flyers.

“It made sense to visit those teams then,” Bross said. “There are a lot of teams that we're considering.”

The Coyotes captain would like to return to Phoenix, but the unstable ownership there is forcing him to look elsewhere.

“Not sure what's going to happen yet,” Bross said. “There are teams interested in Shane. He has some teams that he's interested in. Pittsburgh is definitely one of them.”
