'American Coyotes' Series

Traveling by Jeep, boat and foot, Tribune-Review investigative reporter Carl Prine and photojournalist Justin Merriman covered nearly 2,000 miles over two months along the border with Mexico to report on coyotes — the human traffickers who bring illegal immigrants into the United States. Most are Americans working for money and/or drugs. This series reports how their operations have a major impact on life for residents and the environment along the border — and beyond.

By a large margin, fans of the Presidents' Athletic Conference have voted the St. Vincent College men's basketball team's run to its first PAC Tournament championship as the league's Sports Moment of the Year for the 2012-13 season.

Support for the title run, tabbed by the St. Vincent fan base as “#CramtheCarey,” referring to the school's Carey Center arena, was overwhelming in a vote on the PAC website.

In a vote on three events, a total of 79 of 113 votes, or 70 percent, was in favor of the St. Vincent scenario, which previously earned PAC Winter Sports Moment of the Year.

Top-seeded St. Vincent defeated second-seeded Thomas More in the PAC championshp game to earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament.
