Former Pitt sophomore guard John Johnson, who left the Panthers in mid-November, has transferred to Penn State. The 6-foot-1 Philadelphia native will be eligible to play for coach Pat Chambers' squad after the completion of the 2013 fall semester next December.

Johnson played in all 39 games last season, starting 10, but he didn't play in Pitt's opener against Mount St. Mary's and, with true freshman James Robinson already in the starting lineup for the guard-heavy Panthers, left the team.
