MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Junior running back Andrew Buie, last year's leading rusher, has withdrawn from West Virginia and returned to his Jacksonville, Fla., home, coach Dana Holgorsen said.

Holgorsen, who earlier this week announced Buie would redshirt, said he expects him back in school next semester.

“It's the same plan,” Holgorsen said on his Thursday night radio show. “He just decided to go home for a semester. He's enrolled in nine hours that are going to count toward his degree here at West Virginia. He'll spend time with his family. It's all about developing mentally and physically, and he can do that down there and come back here in January and be ready to roll.”

Buie rushed for 851 yards last season, including 201 in an upset win at Texas. But he had dropped to fifth on the depth chart this offseason.
