High school roundup: Gateway girls soccer team tops No. 3 Fox Chapel

Emily Stevens scored on a header off a corner kick in the second half to give Gateway (12-2-1, 10-0-1) a 2-1 Section 3-AAA victory over No. 3-ranked Fox Chapel (14-2, 9-2) on Monday night.
The win also clinched a section title for the Gators.
Fox Chapel struck first with a goal from sophomore Emma Slevin in the 55th minute, but Gateway's Carly Seneca tied the game one minute later.
Norwin 12, Connellsville 0 — Micayla Livingston recorded a hat trick, and Jessica Boydim added two goals for No. 4 Norwin (12-1-2, 10-1) in a Section 1-AAA win.
Franklin Regional 4, Hempfield 0 — Courtney Hanchey scored two goals for Franklin Regional (9-6, 7-4) in a Section 1-AAA victory.
Seneca Valley 3, North Allegheny 1 — Class AAA No. 5 Seneca Valley improved to 14-1 overall and 10-1 in Section 2 with a key victory at North Allegheny (10-4, 6-4).
Pine-Richland 6, North Hills 0 — Lydia Sargent had four goals to lead Pine-Richland (9-5, 5-5) to a Section 2-AAA win.
Canon-McMillan 2, Chartiers Valley 1 — Veronica Rothka scored with nine minutes remaining to give Canon-McMillan (7-5-2, 4-3-2) a Section 5-AAA win.
Laurel Highlands 4, Brashear 1 — In Section 5-AAA, Kaylee Rabatin recorded a hat trick to lead Laurel Highlands (5-8, 2-7).
McKeesport 2, Albert Gallatin 1 — Katie Strohm scored with less than 10 minutes to play to seal a Section 4-AAA win for McKeesport (2-11-1, 1-9-1). Mackenzie Bana recorded six saves.
Derry 3, Uniontown 2 — Senior captain Nichole Klapchar scored twice, and Shauna Wambold added a goal and assist to lead Derry (2-11, 2-8) to victory in Section 1-AA.
Mt. Pleasant 4, Waynesburg 0 — In Section 1-AA, Jordan Toohey scored two goals to lead Mt. Pleasant (8-7, 7-4) to victory.
Yough 6, Greensburg Salem 0 — Mikayla Mance had a hat trick, and Hannah Ponitz (2) and Taylor Hampshire also scored to lead Yough (14-2, 11-0) to a Section 1-AA win. Goalie Kirstin Capenos earned her sixth shutout for the Cougars, who have clinched the section title.
Hopewell 3, Ambridge 0 — Abby Losco scored two goals for Hopewell (10-2-1, 10-0-1) in a Section 3-AA win. Kyra Honeywill recorded two saves.
Quigley Catholic 1, Mohawk 0 — Liz Duer scored the lone goal with 18:40 gone in the second half to lead Quigley Catholic (8-7-1, 7-5-1) to a Section 1-A win. Mia Chis had six saves for her sixth shutout.
South Allegheny 5, Beth-Center 0 — Shannon Wygonik, Amber Brownfield and Melanie Girovski were among the scorers, as No. 4 South Allegheny (13-0, 10-0) clinched the school's first section title in girls soccer in a Section 2-A triumph.
Greensburg Central Catholic 8, Riverview 1 — Frannie Crouse scored three goals and added three assists to lead No. 1 Greensburg Central Catholic (10-1, 10-0) to a Section 4-A win.
Jeannette 3, Geibel 1 — Sydney Pecararo's hat trick keyed a Section 4-A victory for Jeannette (2-10, 2-9).
