Josh Thomas is a senior offensive and defensive lineman for the Southmoreland Scotties. Southmoreland has opened the season 0-3 after losses to Jeannette, 48-6, Washington, 42-7, and Mt. Pleasant, 41-20.
Q: What has been your best moment on the football field?
A: When we broke the curse against Brownsville in my sophomore year (a 20-6 Southmoreland victory in the season opener of the 2010 season). We had gone 0-9 the season before. It felt great to be able to feel what it was like to win.
Q: Your team has had a tough start to the season, but can you turn it around?
A: Yes. Our defense just needs to get stronger and we need to make the tackles.
Q: Who is your favorite athlete?
A: (Baltimore Ravens linebacker) Terrell Suggs. He plays hard, and he is always aggressive.
Q: Who is your favorite team?
A: Pittsburgh Steelers.
Q: What are some things you enjoy doing in your free time?
A: I like to go fishing, and I just enjoy being outside.
Q: What are your plans after high school?
A: I want to go to a technical school for industrial design.
Q: What is some of the best advice you have ever been given?
A: Give it all you have all the time because you never know when it could end. My dad told me that.
Q: What is your favorite subject in school?
A: History. I like learning about the past.
Q: If you could have dinner with anybody, who would it be?
A: Oprah Winfrey. I'd be interested to hear what she has to say.
Q: What is your favorite movie?
A: “Convoy.” It's an old movie about truck drivers.
