Dan Stratton hit Sage Curry with a 99-yard touchdown pass on a third-and-10 play with 4:20 remaining to give No. 9 Beaver Falls (5-1, 4-1) a 34-31 victory over New Brighton in Class AA Midwestern Conference play Friday night.
Stratton threw for 139 yards and two touchdowns, while teammates Damian Rawl and Rob Bell ran for 180 and 103 yards, respectively. Gabe Greco threw for 228 yards and two touchdowns, and Kellen Mackey ran for 156 yards and two scores for New Brighton (1-5, 1-4).
Aliquippa 49, Freedom 3 — Dravon Henry ran for 152 yards and a touchdown to lead top-ranked Aliquippa (6-0, 4-0) to the Midwestern Conference victory over Freedom (2-4, 2-3). The Quips led at halftime, 42-0. Jon Cleek's 32-yard field goal in the third quarter for Freedom is just the second score against Aliquippa.
Kittanning 35, Ford City 21 — Kevin Barnes ran for 145 yards and passed for 110 as Kittanning (3-3, 3-2) defeated long-time rival Ford City. Devan Willyard rushed for 110 yards for Ford City (2-4, 1-4).
South Allegheny 41, McGuffey 14 — In the Century Conference, Brandon Murn ran for 89 yards and two touchdowns before leaving early in the third quarter for precautionary reasons after a lower body injury to help the Gladiators (5-1, 4-1) extend their winning streak to five. South Allegheny needs a win at Keystone Oaks next week and a little bit of help to qualify for the WPIAL Class AA playoffs for the first time since 1986. McGuffey (2-4, 1-4) running back James Duchi finished with 165 yards.
South Fayette 52, Quaker Valley 0 — Brett Brumbaugh completed 19 of 25 passes for 354 yards and four touchdowns to lead No. 2 South Fayette (6-0, 6-0) to a Century Conference shutout over Quaker Valley (2-4, 2-4). Brumbaugh has thrown for nearly 1,600 yards and 22 touchdowns through six games. Justin Watson caught five passes for 110 yards, including a 58-yard touchdown. South Fayette now has 304 points this season while surrendering only 24.
South Park 27, Keystone Oaks 20 (OT) — Nick Scholle's 10-yard touchdown pass to Jeff Szala in overtime lifted South Park (3-3, 3-2) to a Century Conference win at Keystone Oaks (0-6, 0-5). Jared Becker ran 31 times for 191 yards and a touchdown for South Park, while Kope Phillippi threw for 187 yards and two touchdowns for Keystone Oaks.
Charleroi 10, Waynesburg 7 — In the Interstate Conference, Brennan Matthews threw for 111 yards and a touchdown to lead Charleroi (1-5, 1-4) to a victory at Waynesburg (1-5, 1-4). Bo Hampson ran for 116 yards and threw for a TD in the loss.
Jeannette 28, Mt. Pleasant 27 (2OT) — Jeannette's defense stopped Mt. Pleasant running back Tyler Mellors short of the goal line on a two-point conversion to preserve a double overtime victory in the Interstate Conference. Mellors, who rushed for 154 yards and three touchdowns, had just scored on a 10-yard run. Jeannette QB Seth Miller, who completed 15 of 29 passes for 178 yards, tossed a 10-yard touchdown pass to Jordan Edmunds and then kicked his fourth consecutive extra point to give Jeannette a 28-21 lead. Shavonta Craft scored twice for Jeannette.
Greensburg Central Catholic 39, Southmoreland 0 — Chase Keller threw for one touchdown and ran for two more as Greensburg Central Catholic (4-2, 3-2) shut out Southmoreland (1-5, 1-4) in the Interstate Conference. Seth Warburton scored on a 99-yard fumble recovery in the second quarter for Greensburg Central, which led at halftime, 33-0.
Mt. Lebanon 35, Canon-McMillan 12 — Dimitri Orfanopoulos scored on a 92-yard kickoff return and on a 20-yard pass from Tyler Roth as Mt. Lebanon (5-1, 5-0) won a Quad Central contest. Roth threw for 201 yards and two scores in the victory.
Bethel Park 31, Penn Hills 7 — Levi Metheny completed 8 of 12 passes for 176 yards and two touchdowns as No. 10 Bethel Park (4-2, 4-2) beat Penn Hills (2-4, 2-3) in the Quad Central. Darius Holloway threw for 101 yards in the loss.
Peters Township 42, Plum 0 — Indians senior running back Mike Minjock rushed for 119 yards and scored on runs of 6 and 1 yards in a Quad Central victory. Peters Township (4-2, 3-2) also got 82 yards and two touchdowns from junior Marcus Ubinger. The Indians racked up 305 yards on the ground and 398 yards overall. Plum (0-6, 0-6) was limited to 66 yards.
McKeesport 34, Latrobe 2 — McKeesport (3-3, 3-2) racked up 406 yards rushing and rolled over Latrobe (1-5, 0-5) in a Quad East game. Quarterback Eddie Stockett led McKeesport with 135 yards on the ground, including touchdown runs of 54 and 10 yards. The Tigers held Latrobe to 30 total yards.
Kiski Area 36, Norwin 14 — Lincoln Clayton rushed for 187 yards and three scores to lead Kiski Area (3-3, 3-2) to a Quad East victory.
Penn-Trafford 38, Connellsville 17 — Devin Austin rushed for 172 yards, including touchdown runs of 74 and 4 yards as Penn-Trafford (5-1, 5-0) rolled to a Quad East victory. Jordan McCrae scored on a 1-yard run and 95-yard kick return for Connellsville (2-4, 2-3).
Central Catholic 28, Pine-Richland 8 — Luigi Lista-Brinza ran for 173 yards and touchdowns of 33 and 28 yards as No. 6 Central Catholic (5-1, 4-1) beat Pine-Richland (2-4, 1-4) in the Quad North. Connor Slonka rushed for 106 yards for Pine-Richland.
Seneca Valley 49, Shaler 0 — Jordan Brown completed 9 of 10 passes for 193 yards and three touchdowns to lead No. 5 Seneca Valley (5-1, 4-1) to the Quad North shutout over Shaler (0-6, 0-5). Forrest Barnes added 104 rushing yards and two touchdowns for Seneca Valley, which led at halftime, 35-0.
Upper St. Clair 34, Butler 3 — Pete Coughlin ran 14 times for 118 yards and two touchdowns and threw a 25-yard scoring pass to Ben Southorn as No. 3 Upper St. Clair (6-0) beat Butler (2-4) in nonconference play.
Thomas Jefferson 45, Laurel Highlands 6 — Jake Farrell rushed for 106 yards, including scores of 47, 11 and 5 yards, as No. 3 Thomas Jefferson (6-0, 5-0) cruised to a Big 9 victory. Joe Carroll threw for 120 yards and a pair of touchdown passes to Zach Schademan.
Hampton 28, Hollidaysburg 14 — Anthony Bianco ran for 98 yards and touchdowns of 4, 8 and 68 yards to lead No. 8 Hampton (5-1, 4-1) to the Greater Allegheny Conference win at Hollidaysburg (3-3, 3-2). Hampton led at halftime, 28-0.
Hopewell 10, Ambridge 6 — Stefan Mrkonja's 1-yard run in the fourth quarter lifted Hopewell (3-3, 3-3) to the Parkway Conference win over Ambridge (2-4, 2-3). Adam Murray ran for 101 yards, and Mike Tempalski added 100 rushing yards for Hopewell.
New Castle 51, Blackhawk 25 — Jalen Holmes ran for 173 yards and two touchdowns, and Malik Hooker scored twice as New Castle (3-3, 2-3) was victorious in the Parkway Conference. Cole Chiappialle rushed for 241 yards, including touchdown runs of 79, 23, 64 and 1 yard for Blackhawk (1-5, 1-4).
Montour 50, Chartiers Valley 9 — Seven different players scored touchdowns as top-ranked Montour (6-0, 5-0) defeated Chartiers Valley (2-4, 1-4) in the Parkway Conference. Tynan Greer, who ran for a 29-yard touchdown, threw for 117 yards and a 65-yard touchdown to Justin Hill. Nate Dearth converted all six of his extra-point attempts.
Central Valley 42, Moon 9 — Robert Foster scored three times on a 26-yard reception, a 40-yard run and an 80-yard kickoff return to lead No. 2 Central Valley (5-1, 5-1) to a Parkway Conference win. Caleb Jakiel scored on a 10-yard run and kicked a 22-yard field goal for Moon (1-5, 1-5).
Mars 44, Uniontown 0 — Josh Schultheis ran 16 times for 204 yards and four touchdowns as No. 4 Mars (6-0) blanked Uniontown (1-5) in nonconference play. Schultheis, who scored on runs of 1, 60, 44 and 3 yards, has 19 rushing TDs this season.
Clairton 42, Brentwood 7 — Tyler Boyd ran 17 times for 237 yards and three touchdowns as top-ranked Clairton (6-0, 6-0) beat Brentwood (3-3, 3-3) in the Black Hills Conference. Armani Ford threw for 123 yards and touchdowns of 25 and 56 yards to Terrish Webb. Webb caught four passes for 105 yards.
Imani Christian 33, California 7 — Quarterback Khari Hicks ran for two touchdowns as Imani Christian (5-1, 5-1) beat California (1-5, 1-5) in the Black Hills Conference. California's lone touchdown came on a 25-yard interception return by Austin Hunter.
Monessen 50, Serra Catholic 20 — No. 4 Monessen (5-1, 5-1) scored three special teams touchdowns in its Black Hills Conference win at Serra Catholic (0-6, 0-6). Chavas Rawlins scored on a 69-yard punt return, Kayne Jackson on a 31-yard blocked punt return, and Mark Blatnik added a 65-yard kickoff return.
North Catholic 19, Avonworth 15 — P.J. Fulmore ran for 114 yards and a 25-yard touchdown to lead No. 10 North Catholic (5-1, 5-1) to the Eastern Conference win over Avonworth (3-3, 3-2). Fulmore has rushed for 1,016 yards and 13 touchdowns this season. Avonworth's Jesse Zubik scored the game's first touchdown on a 60-yard punt return.
Northgate 20, Leechburg 0 — Cody Walter ran 26 times for 260 yards and caught a 22-yard scoring pass from Johnny Camello as No. 9 Northgate (5-1, 4-0) blanked Leechburg (1-5, 1-4) in the Eastern Conference.
Springdale 24, Apollo Ridge 0 — Sean Dugan ran 39 times for 236 yards and two touchdowns to lead Springdale (4-2, 4-1) to the Eastern Conference shutout at Apollo-Ridge (3-3, 3-2). Jesse Zelonka threw for 136 yards for Apollo-Ridge.
Wilkinsburg 27, West Shamokin 6 — Wilkinsburg (1-5, 1-5) secured its first Eastern Conference win of the season with a 20-point fourth quarter and 47 minutes of shutout defense. Quarterback Ryan Cox ran for 64 yards and a touchdown on four carries. Andrew Wingard had a 20-yard touchdown catch to help West Shamokin (1-5, 1-5) avoid its first shutout of the season.
Frazier 20, Avella 13 — Quarterback Charles Manack's 2-yard run in the fourth quarter lifted Frazier (4-2, 4-2) to the Tri-County South win at Avella (5-1, 4-1). Manack completed 17 of 30 passes for 194 yards. Santino Paris threw for 151 yards and ran for a 1-yard run for Avella.
Brashear 35, Carrick 6 — Deshaun Roberts rushed for 116 yards and three touchdowns to lead Brashear (2-4, 2-1) to a City League victory. Diondre Farris also scored twice for the Bulls. Joe Kalsek scored Carrick's lone touchdown on a 48-yard interception return.
