Trib HS Insider Q&A: Mt. Pleasant’s Eli Holt

Mt. Pleasant senior linebacker Eli Holt has 95 tackles, including 15 for losses this season for the Vikings, who are preparing for a WPIAL Class AA first-round meeting with No 8 seed Burrell at Valley High School. He also has two fumble recoveries and one sack this season for a Vikings defense that allows just 16.8 points per game and has helped the team to a 7-2 overall record and third-place standing in the Interstate Conference.
Q: Are you pleased with the way you and your teammates played throughout the regular season?
A: I think we did extremely well. I know we have two losses, but the postseason is like a new season and we get to start again.
Q: What is your most memorable moment of this season, to date?
A: Definitely it would be beating Greensburg Central Catholic. My first two years, we lost to them, so to beat them was great.
Q: What do you enjoy most about competing in the playoffs?A: The atmosphere of the playoffs is great.
Q: What do you enjoy doing when you are not playing football?
A: I like to lift (weights) and hang out with friends. I also wrestle.
Q: What are your plans for after high school?
A: I hope to attend a four-year college and play football.
Q: What do you hope to major in?
A: History. It interests me.
Q: If you could meet anyone, who would it be?
A: (Penn State linebacker) Michael Mauti. He plays for my favorite team.
Q: What is your favorite professional football team?
A: Baltimore Ravens.
Q: Who is your favorite pro player?
A: (Dallas Cowboys linebacker) Sean Lee. He is a Penn State grad.
Q: Who inspires you?
A: My father (Chuck Holt). He always has given me the attitude to never give up and always push myself to my full potential.
Q: If you could go anywhere for a vacation, where would you go?
A: Anywhere sunny and nice.
