Sewickley Academy (6-0-1, 6-0) tried to keep its undefeated season intact as the team hosted OLSH on Monday at Nichols Field. The game was to be played past the deadline for this week's edition. Last week, the Panthers shut out Section 5-A opponents Neshannock, 1-0, Quigley Catholic, 1-0, and Freedom, 3-0.

Quaker Valley kept its undefeated section record alive with a 3-2 victory over Rochester last Wednesday. The Quakers (11-1, 9-0) also defeated Central Valley, 5-0, on Monday.

Sewickley Academy (7-3, 7-1) also had an undefeated week, beating Hopewell, 5-0, on Wednesday.

Field hockey

Sewickley Academy won its second straight game after an 0-2 start, beating league opponent Aquinas Academy, 5-3, on Thursday. The Panthers (2-2, 2-2) played Ellis School on Tuesday; the game finished past the deadline for this week's edition.

Volleyball

Quaker Valley split a pair of matches, beating nonsection foe New Brighton, 3-0, on Tuesday before falling to section opponent Central Valley, 3-0, on Thursday.

The Quakers (2-3, 1-2) then competed in the Midwestern Athletic Conference Tournament over the weekend at South Side Beaver. Hopewell beat Mars in the final, and Quaker Valley failed to make the quarterfinals.

The team hosted Lincoln Park on Monday in a contest that was to be completed past the deadline for this week's edition.
