Adam Tucker

School: Greensburg Central Catholic

Year: Sophomore

Sport: Soccer

Claim to fame: Tucker scored all three goals to lead Greensburg Central Catholic (6-3, 5-1) to a 3-0 win over South Allegheny in Section 1-A action on Saturday. On Sept. 20, Tucker, who has 10 goals this season, scored three times and added an assist to pace the Centurions to a Section 1-A win over Winchester-Thurston. It was the first multi-goal game of his career.

“Last week, I didn't really have a strong performance against Pine-Richland,” Tucker said. “However, I definitely showed up when I scored my three goals against South Allegheny. I was able to take advantage of every opportunity I was given.”

What were your team goals and individual goals going into the season?

First, our team goals at GCC are to win our section. However, our loss earlier in the year to South Allegheny was a setback. Also, another team goal is to put pride in our defense. For an individual goal, I want to help my team get to WPIALs and move on to the state playoffs.

If you had a chance to be one person in history, who would it be and why?

I would want to be Lionel Messi. He's my favorite soccer player and he's a lot of fun to watch. He also does a lot of charity work.

What player you model your game after?

Messi. He's more of a winger and no one can ever duplicate the things he does. I try to model myself after him as much as I can. I'm more of a finisher, while Messi is more of playmaker.

What's your favorite Halloween movie?

I definitely want to go see the new “Paranormal Activity” movie. I have seen them all. I think they are entertaining. They might not be the best movies, but they are good for a scare.

What's your favorite candy?

I definitely like to Reese's Cups as my favorite candy.

Mikayla Mance

School: Yough

Year: Freshman

Sport: Soccer

Claim to fame: Mance, who has 29 goals this season, scored three times for Yough (11-2, 8-0) in a 5-0 win over Southmoreland on Sept. 24. She also scored three goals in a win over Greensburg Salem on Sept. 20 and had five goals in a Section 1-AA win over Mt. Pleasant on Sept. 12.

“I thought I have been performing well, better than I expected,” Mance said. “I didn't expect to score this many goals.”

How have you had this much success this early on in your career?

It feels good, and it makes me look forward to years to come.

What were your goals going into this season?

I just wanted to score as many goals as possible this season and to get myself out there as much as possible.

How do you think the team will shape up in the section?

I think we have a good chance in winning our section and going far into the playoffs. We definitely have a strong team all around the field.

What's your favorite holiday and why?

New Year's Eve because it's my birthday and there is always a party.

Who's your favorite soccer player that you might model your game after?

Alex Morgan because she got recognized when she was real young and she plays forward, which is the same position I play.
