TribLIVE Sports Videos
Sport: Cross country
Claim to fame: Faye finished second with time of 17 minutes, 28.7 seconds at the Westmoreland County Coaches' Association meet at Seton Hill University on Oct. 11. Faye also finished third (17:18) at the Slippery Rock Invitational on Sept. 16 and second (17:53) at the Gateway Invitational on Sept. 1.
“I was definitely excited with how I performed in the meets this season,” he said. “I'm just trying to perform well in them. I guess I'm doing well.”
What are your college plans for next year?
I'm planning on applying to a couple of schools this week. I'm looking to apply to Vermont, Penn State and Colorado. I'd like to run in college. I would like to major in environmental engineering or civil engineering, if I go to Penn State. I really like building stuff and helping the environment. I'd like to have a job that would build alternative energy sources.
What goes through your mind out on the course?
Normally, I have a song in my head that I just listened to before I start the race. Also, I just try to think about if I should keep up, surge or stay back in the race. I think a lot about strategy.
What are your goals for the rest of the way?
I'd like to medal at WPIALs and medal at states. That would be my ultimate goal.
Who is your role model and why?
Chris Sharma. He is a professional rock climber. I just like how he is currently pushing the limits of rock climbing. He inspires me to keep working hard.
What are you going to be for Halloween?
I haven't really thought about it yet. I was going to go out this week with my friends to decide on a costume. I will probably be a superhero.
School: Mt. Pleasant
Claim to fame: Toohey scored four goals Monday to lead Mt. Pleasant (11-7, 8-4) to a 5-1 win over Geibel. That gave her 36 goals this season, which broke her single-season school record. She also has a school-record 98 career goals. She added three goals in a 4-0 win over Charleroi on Oct. 11 and two in a win against Waynesburg on Oct. 8. Mt. Pleasant will start the WPIAL playoffs this weekend after clinching the second seed in Section 1-AA.
How have you been so successful in scoring goals?
I just try to shoot it at the net. I try to put it in a good spot. I normally try for the corners.
What does your team need to go deep into the playoffs?
I think we need to continue working together. We need to try to do what we do and stay strong. If we do that, we should be good.
Who is your favorite soccer player and why?
Abby Wambach. She's a good all-around soccer player, and that's the type of player I want to be like.
What is your favorite TV show?
‘Switched at Birth.' It's just interesting to see how both families cope with the two daughters' lives that were turned upside down.
What is your favorite scary movie?
I don't like watching scary movies, so I don't have a favorite movie.
