In a rematch of the WPIAL Class AAA championship game, Peters Township junior striker Veronica Latsko, a Virginia recruit, scored the only goal of the game off an indirect free kick in the 15th minute to lead the two-time defending state champion Indians (22-1) to a 1-0 victory over Seneca Valley (20-3-0) in the PIAA quarterfinals Saturday at Chartiers Valley.
The Indians will play Wilson in the semifinals Tuesday at a site and time to be determined.
Moon 2, Trinity 0 — Antonia Grese and Kallie Conte scored to lead Moon (22-2) to a PIAA Class AA quarterfinal shutout over Trinity (22-4) at Hollidaysburg.
Mercyhurst 1 Prep, Mars 0 — At Franklin, Sarah Kaiser scored to give Mercyhurst Prep (18-4) a PIAA Class AA quarterfinal shutout against Mars (20-2-1).
Greensburg Central Catholic 6, York Catholic 0 — Frannie Crouse scored four goals and had an assist to lead Greensburg Central Catholic (21-1) to a PIAA Class A quarterfinal win over York Catholic (15-8) at Mansion Park Stadium in Altoona. Olivia Binza recorded the shutout.
Shady Side Academy 3, Sewickley Academy 1 — At North Allegheny, the Indians (17-5-1) advanced to the PIAA Class A semifinals with a victory over Sewickley Academy (21-2-1).
Boys soccer
Lancaster Mennonite 1, Quaker Valley 0 (SO) – A 3-2 decision in a penalty-kick shootout ended the season for the Quakers (19-4-1), who fell to Lancaster Mennonite in the PIAA Class AA quarterfinals at Hollidaysburg.
Biglerville 4, Greensburg Central Catholic 1 -- Frank Fratto scored the lone goal for Greensburg Central Catholic (16-6-1) in a PIAA Class A quarterfinal loss to Biglerville (16-7-1) at Mansion Park Stadium in Altoona.
Sewickley Academy 2, Riverside 0 — Jake Mulholland and J.P. Bowell scored, Hayden Moyer made nine saves, and Sewickley Academy (20-1-1) shut out Riverside (17-5-1) in the PIAA Class A quarterfinals at North Allegheny.
Volleyball
North Allegheny 3, State College 0 — Ava Mosbacher recorded 13 kills and Maura Nolan had 20 assists, as North Allegheny defeated State College in the PIAA Class AAA quarterfinals at Indiana, 25-17, 25-22, 25-15.
Hempfield (Dist. 3) 3, Mt. Lebanon 0 — The WPIAL champion Blue Devils lost to District 3's Hempfield in the WPIAL Class AAA quarterfinals at State College, 25-21, 25-23, 25-14.
Mars 3, Meadville 1 — At Sharpsville, WPIAL champion Mars advanced to the PIAA Class AA semifinals with a 25-18, 27-25, 20-25, 25-16 quarterfinal win over Meadville.
Fort LeBoeuf 3, Hopewell 0 — WPIAL runner-up Hopewell dropped a PIAA quarterfinal decision at Sharpsville, 28-26, 25-23, 25-22.
Greensburg Central Catholic 3, OLSH 1 — Greensburg Central Catholic defeated OLSH in a PIAA Class A quarterfinal match at Gateway, 25-23, 21-25, 25-20, 25-22.
