'American Coyotes' Series

Traveling by Jeep, boat and foot, Tribune-Review investigative reporter Carl Prine and photojournalist Justin Merriman covered nearly 2,000 miles over two months along the border with Mexico to report on coyotes — the human traffickers who bring illegal immigrants into the United States. Most are Americans working for money and/or drugs. This series reports how their operations have a major impact on life for residents and the environment along the border — and beyond.

Former Penn State quarterback Matt McGloin signed a three-year contract with the Oakland Raiders on Wednesday.

McGloin, who started his career as a walk-on at Penn State, had tryouts with the Redskins and Panthers before signing with Oakland. The Raiders have five quarterbacks on their roster, including former Ohio State and Jeannette standout Terrelle Pryor. McGloin is one of three rookie quarterbacks on the roster.

The Scranton native left Penn State as its all-time leader in touchdown passes (46) and led the Big Ten in passing in 2012.
