Bettman told The Associated Press Tuesday the Sabres have submitted a proposal to host the combine. Bettman said the NHL is taking the proposal “very seriously.”

• Steven Stamkos is practicing with the Tampa Bay Lightning and hopes to play for Canada at the Sochi Olympics. The forward worked out for 20 minutes in a morning skate at Air Canada Centre on Tuesday. Stamkos broke his right shin Nov. 11.
