'American Coyotes' Series

Traveling by Jeep, boat and foot, Tribune-Review investigative reporter Carl Prine and photojournalist Justin Merriman covered nearly 2,000 miles over two months along the border with Mexico to report on coyotes — the human traffickers who bring illegal immigrants into the United States. Most are Americans working for money and/or drugs. This series reports how their operations have a major impact on life for residents and the environment along the border — and beyond.

The Phoenix Coyotes will become the Arizona Coyotes starting in the 2014-15 season.

The team has been known as the Phoenix Coyotes since moving to Arizona from Winnipeg in 1996. It played its home games in Phoenix before moving to Glendale in 2003.

• The Stars signed forward Ryan Garbutt to a three-year, $1.8 million contract extension.

• Ducks defenseman Mark Fistric agreed to a three-year, $3.8 million contract extension.
