The Shady Side Academy boys lacrosse team started the season with four losses, including one to Mt. Lebanon, the top seed in the WPIAL Division I tournament.

The Indians have turned their season around and earned revenge over the defending champion Blue Devils on Tuesday with an 8-3 win in the WPIAL semifinals at Chartiers Valley.

Sophomores Michael Concordia and Daniel Marous each had three goals to lead Shady Side Academy (9-8), which has won six of seven. The Indians will play No. 2 seed Seneca Valley (16-1) in the championship game at 8 p.m. Friday at Chartiers Valley.

Girls

Pine-Richland 16, Shady Side Academy 11 — Drew Hayden and Beverly Byerley each scored five goals to lead third-seeded Pine-Richland (16-2) in the WPIAL Division I semifinals at North Hills.

Hannah Christenson chipped in four goals for Pine-Richland, and Leah Winter led Shady Side Academy with three. The Rams will play top-seeded Peters Township (15-4) in the championship game at 8 p.m. Thursday at North Hills.

Shady Side Academy (12-3) will play Mt. Lebanon (12-6) in the consolation game at 6 p.m. Thursday at North Hills.

North Hills 13, Shaler 12 — Natalie DiPaolo scored four goals, and Emily Jamison and Jorden McKenna had three each to lead top-seeded North Hills (19-0) in the WPIAL Division II semifinals at North Hills.

The Indians, who have won 39 straight games — including last season's WPIAL title game — fell behind, 3-0, but recovered to take a four-goal lead at halftime. Shaler (13-5) tied the score midway through the second half, but North Hills pulled ahead late.

The Indians will play second-seeded Chartiers Valley (18-1) in the Division II title game at 4 p.m. Thursday at North Hills.
