The NHL could announce as soon as Wednesday that an outdoor game scheduled between the Penguins and Philadelphia Flyers at Heinz Field will take place Feb. 18, 2017, multiple sources told the Tribune-Review.

On Sunday, the league announced an outdoor game between Winnipeg and Edmonton for October, fueling speculation that confirmation of the other outdoor games planned for next season was coming soon.

Last month, sources said the Penguins and Flyers would meet at Heinz Field next season as part of the 50th anniversary of their joining the league as expansion teams in 1967. It's expected to be a home-and-home series, with the Flyers hosting the Penguins outdoors in a subsequent season.
