Traveling by Jeep, boat and foot, Tribune-Review investigative reporter Carl Prine and photojournalist Justin Merriman covered nearly 2,000 miles over two months along the border with Mexico to report on coyotes — the human traffickers who bring illegal immigrants into the United States. Most are Americans working for money and/or drugs. This series reports how their operations have a major impact on life for residents and the environment along the border — and beyond.

The Penguins have recalled forward Brian Gibbons from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.

Gibbons is off to a terrific start in the AHL this season, having produced seven goals and 22 points in 15 games. His 15 assists lead the AHL.

The 5-foot-8 forward was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Penguins in 2011.

A defensively responsible player who has produced two shorthanded goals this season, Gibbons is tied for the AHL lead with a plus-13
