Mazeroski Way now leads to Bill Mazeroski's wall at PNC Park.

The Pittsburgh Pirates have restored the section of red brick wall from Forbes Field over which Mazeroski homered to win the 1960 World Series against the New York Yankees, and are displaying it along the river walk behind PNC Park.

The walkway runs between the ballpark and the Allegheny River and leads to Mazeroski Way, the city street named for the Hall of Fame second baseman who played for the Pirates from 1956-72 and later was a team coach. The 72-year-old Mazeroski still works for the Pirates as a spring training infield instructor.

The restored wall includes the 406-foot sign that was displayed in left-center field at Forbes Field. Mazeroski homered a few feet to the left of the marker — the only home run to end Game 7 of a World Series.

After Forbes Field closed in June 1970, the wall was disassembled and was displayed in the private Allegheny Club a t Three Rivers Stadium. The wall was disassembled and put into storage after the Pirates moved from Three Rivers into PNC Park in 2001.
