TUESDAY's game

SPAIN at PIRATES, 1:05 p.m.

McKechnie Field,

Bradenton, Fla.

Radio: MLB.com

Pirates starter: RHP Gerrit Cole

Spain starter: RHPYoanner Negrin

MONDAY's result

PHILLIES 5, PIRATES 0

Pirates starter: A.J. Burnett 1.1 IP, 4 H, 4 ER, 2 BB, 2 SO, 1 HBP

Phillies starter: John Lannan 3 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, 0 SO

Talkin' ‘bout practice: Travis Snider “doubled” in the first on a sharp grounder that Phillies 1B Ryan Howard let pass without budging. Score that one “defensive indifference.”

Near no-no: Good thing Snider got that hit. The Pirates didn't have another the rest of the game.

Stock up: LHP Kris Johnson, a winter-ball standout in the Dominican, relieved Burnett in a pinch with 1 23 scoreless innings and two strikeouts.

Stock down: Michael McKenry sailed a throw into center when trying to catch a runner stealing, leading to an unearned Philadelphia run in the fourth. He also was charged with a passed ball.
