Breaking down Saturday's Pirates-Brewers game

Pirates beat reporter Rob Biertempfel's inside look at Saturday's game:

• Wandy Rodriguez's 41.7 percent fly ball rate is the highest of his career and his 28.6 percent home run-to-fly ball ratio is nearly three times higher than his career average. He's throwing more curveballs (33.6 percent of his pitches) and changeups (15.6 percent) than he did over the past two seasons — but opponents are batting .310 vs. the curve and .308 vs. the change.

• The Brewers led the NL last season with 142 stolen bases, and their primary weapon is SS Jean Segura. He was successful in 79 percent of his steal attempts in the minors and entered this series with a 76 percent success rate in the majors (54 for 71). Last year, he swiped 44 bags. Will he reach that level again? Sure — if he can boost his .281 on-base percentage.

The Buzz

Relief pitcher Bryan Morris has taken some good-natured ribbing from teammates about his resemblance to Masters champ Bubba Watson. “Charlie Morton blew me up the other day,” Morris said. “He was like, ‘Hey, you're leading the Masters. How can you be here?' It was even worse back in the minors when my hair was longer. Then I really looked like (Watson).”
