Uniontown postal service contractor sentenced to probation

John Eric Shumar, 45, of 15 Wilson Ave., Uniontown, was sentenced in federal court in Pittsburgh to four years probation, including eight months of home detention, on his conviction of theft of mail.

Shumar was a highway contract route carrier for the Postal Service who stole mail which contained cash and checks totaling $13,088.
