Question: The other night I was watching the movie version of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and I think I saw Ben Affleck. Is he in that movie• When was it released?

Answer: That was Affleck, all right, in a riveting performance as "Player 10." The movie was released in 1992.

Q: My husband said that on the credits for "The Andy Griffith Show," he has often seen the name of Bob Ross as the artist for the show.

Would you happen to know whether this is the same artist who hosted "Joy of Painting" on PBS?

A: The Bob Ross in the credits of "The Andy Griffith Show" wasn't an artist. He was a writer whose career also included "Leave It to Beaver" and "Amos and Andy." He wrote quite a few scripts for the Griffith show and then several for its spinoff, "Mayberry RFD."

He's not related in any way, shape or form to the Bob Ross of the painting series, which, like "The Lawrence Welk Show," will live on in PBS reruns long after your and my departure from this mortal coil.

Q: I have seen Josh Hartnett in several movies and can't help but wonder whether he is related to Tommy Lee Jones. Yes, he is more attractive, but the eyes are so similar, and even his mannerisms make me wonder whether he was his son or a brother.

A: Josh Hartnett's father's name is Daniel. Josh was born in St. Paul, Minn., loves jazz, once broke his left knee and dated Scarlett Johansson.

I think that after examining this exhaustive account of Hartnett's life, you will agree that Tommy Lee Jones isn't in there anywhere. They aren't related.

Q: Who was the voice on the PA system on the early years of "M..A..S..H"• Whenever I watch the show, I try to guess who the voice is, but I just can't figure it out.

A: The voice on the loudspeaker was an actor named Sal Viscuso, who never appeared on the show. He did, however, play Father Tim Flotsky on the ABC sitcom "Soap" at about the same time.

Q: On the first "Grey's Anatomy" of the season, what was the name of the song playing during Meredith's dream?

A: That was "Black Tables," by Other Lives.

Q: What is the music on the Clorox commercials with the children in the bathroom• There's a boy with ships and the little girl pretending to be a mermaid.

A: That music was composed especially for the commercial.

Q: I have been searching for a movie for my mother for years and years. She saw it on HBO in 1980 or 1981. All she can remember is that it starred Paul LeMat. He played a character with a chronic lying problem.

Can you tell us the name of the movie and whether it's on video?

A: Sounds like "Why Would I Lie?" a 1979 film with Treat Williams and Lisa Eichhorn. Unfortunately, it isn't on video.

Q: On the Oct. 19 episode of "Entourage," there was a song playing when the guys entered a party where there were a lot of models. I think the song sampled the old disco song "A Fifth of Beethoven." Ideas?

A: The song was "When I Get You Alone" by Robin Thicke.

B> Q: I told some co-workers about a movie that I had watched about aliens that were in the hands of people. These people would cut their hands off to get rid of the alien.

In one scene, all the hands, hundreds of them, were running after a man who led them up on top of a building, telling them that they would be free if they jumped. Needless to say, my co-workers didn't believe me.

A: That sounds suspiciously like "Evil Dead II," a classic horror comedy from 1987 directed by Sam Raimi and starring Bruce Campbell. It's on DVD, so you can relive the magic and convince your skeptical co-workers.
