The Giant Eagle supermarket located at 862 Sleepy Hollow Road in Castle Shannon, a franchise owned and operated by Rick Vasco, is closing, effective Saturday, Aug. 29.

Owned and operated by the Vasco family since 1989, the closing was Vasco's decision, according to Giant Eagle spokesman Dick Roberts. Vasco couldn't be reached to comment.

The store's 75 employees will be offered positions at nearby Giant Eagle stores, including supermarkets at Caste Village Shopping Center and in Bethel Park, Roberts said.
